My dear mother, Vicki Norton Hulet, celebrated her birthday yesterday, November 10. I decided I should come home and surprise her, so I made it through my 4 classes on Tuesday, went to wings for lunch with a friend (whose birthday it was also) and then headed home to IF town. I got home and surprised her. My dad had to stall because I was running late. I had to stop at a gas station and they didn't have the oil I needed for my car OR Chewy Gobstoppers (what the heck?!) so I used their bathroom and left (that will show them). So I had to keep driving and stop at another one to add oil. Blah blah blah you get the point. I made it. My mom goes on these crazy diets where she eats like a cube of cheese and a 1 inch square piece of lettuce for every meal (ok, not really, but you get the point. They suck) so she wanted to go to Scotty's for dinner. Scotty's. The local fast food restaurant with deliciously greasy french fries and excellent shakes. My semi-chronic stomach ache kicked in a couple minutes after I got my food so I didn't really get to enjoy it as much as I would have liked to but she enjoyed her burger.we came home and watched the movie about the subway train that gets highjacked? Something like Palloomanown 123. Yes. I think that was it. After that finished we watched a few episodes of Friends and then she made me go to bed at 11. Ha. like I could fall asleep that early. So I read my book and laid in the dark for a while and finally passed out a while later. Sleeping in my deliciously huge bed with delightfully soft blankets and a down comforter was heaven compared to my rickety twin with 200 thread count sheets and a stained Target comforter back in Logan. One more reassurance of why coming home was such an excellent idea.
Today has been a good day. I've organized the crap out of my life (at least the next few weeks, until the semester ends). Now I can go forward with (a little more) confidence! The rest of my time here will be spent studying for my US Institutions quiz and Astronomy test that are both tomorrow. I need to do well on them. Being home is an advantage because I don't have all my buddies luring me away from my studies. :) I do miss them though! Alone time is good. I don't get it often in Logan (which is fine) but sometimes I honestly forget what it's like to be alone. Let's just say, I'm lovin' it. I have to head back to Logan around 5 though because I have step practice at 8 that I just found out about, sadly cutting my trip short. Oh well. It's been good. Really good.
